MIO CONSIGLIERE
Mio Consigliere is a free web-based resource for tax training, research, and analysis.
Estimates suggest that large law firms spend over $22,000 per year per lawyer on 'training'. Very little of that training is interactive, and they do not provide any metric to ascertain whether the lawyers are actually learning.
We have developed numerous interactive training materials, many of which qualify for continuing legal eduction (CLE) or continuing professional education (CPE) credit.
The tools are interactive and require the participant to pass a certification test before proceeding. A certificate is awarded at the end of the program.
We have three research tools, all of which are accessible via the Research page after login.
(1) Mioconsigliere Message Board: Users can post questions about tax reform or FX topics and receive responses from other users.
(2) Solon: This is mioconsigliere's wiki dedicated solely to U.S. federal income tax topics. Please note that users are required to create a second username and password to access the wiki and must wait for authentication before they can join.
(3) Cicero: Mioconsigliere's first legislative history research tool.
We have developed tools to facilitate legal analysis of discrete issues. At present, we have tools that address sovereign entities under section 892, the conduit rules under Treas. Reg. 1.881-3, and our RELATE tool which helps you analyze the attribution rules in the Code.
Our target users are individuals employed by U.S.-based businesses with responsibility for legal compliance. Our initial focus is on tax compliance - specifically, training tools for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (2017). Over time, we hope to develop additional training modules for tax and other areas of the law.
